Farhana Akhter, a newly appointed Lecturer at Department of Environmental Science, State University of Bangladesh who is actively associated with different research activities and teaching experiences both in Bangladesh and Japan. She has been committed to work in different disciplines of Geography, Environmental Science and Disaster management to attain sustainability with genuine interest to ensure safe living environment and a secure society. She completed her bachelor (BSc.) and master’s (MSc.) degree from University of Dhaka in the Department of Geography and Environment. Further, she obtained her second master’s degree (MA) from Nara Women’s University, Nara, Japan with a fully funded scholarship program. She has also worked as a part time faculty at UIU. Her research interest covers a different range of topics including solar photovoltaic (SPV) based irrigation system and its potential carbon emission reduction in Bangladesh and urban flood risk perception through GIS based building location analysis under the influence of severe climate change condition in Japan etc. Therefore, she is intended to work in various topics including renewable resources, climate change, disaster management, disaster mitigation policy and planning, urban studies, physical and human geography and sustainable development to achieve SDGs.
