Prof. Mohammad Ali Naqi

Prof. Mohammad Ali Naqi is the Vice-Chancellor of Stamford University Bangladesh. He was Chairman, Department of Architecture of Stamford University Bangladesh. He served as a Head, Architecture Discipline at Khulna University and Head, Department of Architecture at Prime Asia University. His special field of teaching and research is Aesthetics & Design, Music & Architecture, and Heritage Conservations of Bengal Architecture with a special interest in Mausoleums at Christian Cemeteries, Colonial Buildings at Dhaka and Khulna, Conjectural virtual reconstruction of the Buddhist Biharas, and KHAN-E-JAHAN STYLE of Sultanate Bengal Architecture. He provided Lecture series and workshops on Learning to sketch(1991); Vocabulary and pronunciation development( 1992); Computer-Aided Design (1999); Applied Aesthetics ( 1999) in Khulna University and Sketch-up (2006); Creativity and Chess (2010); Lecture Series for teachers and executives in the Center of Excellence (2009-till date) in Stamford University. In addition to the University where he has been serving as a regular faculty he provided workshops and lectures in classes and studios as part-time or guest faculty in Music Appreciation and Design Sessionals (North-South University), Aesthetics and Design, Design Sessionals (University of Asia Pacific), Aesthetics and Design, Design Sessionals (Ahsanullah University), Aesthetics and Design (State University, Bangladesh), Creativity and Management (South-East University), Design Process (Bangladesh University) and Design Sessionals (Prime Asia University). He has also offered lecture series on Architecture of the Indian Sub-continent, Indian Classical Music Appreciation, Western Music Appreciation in Bishwa Sahitya Kendra (World-Literature Centre, organization awarded UNESCO Jan Amos Comenius Medal, 2008), Dhaka. He is a co-teacher of Prof. Abdullah Abu Sayeed in different Study Circles of that organization. He completed his undergraduate and postgraduate in BUET, Bangladesh. During his studentship, he held the following posts in the Student’s Union of Architecture Department, BUET: 1. Vice-president 1986-87; 2. General Secretary: 1985-86. 3. Asst. Gen. Secretary: 1984-85. He is a Fellow in the Institute of Architects Bangladesh (IAB) and was elected Secretary, Education in the Executive Council (2005-2006). From December 1989 to September 1990 served as a Junior Architect in the Architectural Firm named ‘STAPATI SAMSAD’ and during this period was involved with the project: Khulna University Master Plan (1st. prize in the competition). From October 1990 to May 1991 served as an Architect under the supervision of Ar. Uttam Kumar Shaha in his Architectural Firm named ‘NANDAN’ Dhaka. During this period was involved with the project: Pryo-Prangan, Apartment Building (16 storied high-rise) at Paribug, Dhaka. (Received IAB award 2000). He has designed a number of Hotels in Khulna (Castle Salam, Hotel at KDA Road Khulna. Hotel Millennium at Sonadanga Road Khulna, Redesign of Royal Hotel, Khulna); SONY Regional Head Office, Khulna; Professors Quarters, Khulna University, Khulna and Different Private Duplexes and apartments at Nirala, Sonadana and Haji Mohsin road in Khulna He is the Founder Member of APORAJEYO SHANGHA, a research organization to study and publish the socio-cultural and historical heritage of Bangladesh, and a Member of the Editorial Board of AMADER SANGRAM CHOLBEI, part I & II, a book on the lives of the freedom fighters ’71. Published by Aporajeyo Shangha on Feb.1988-89. He is a Chess Organizer and worked as a program coordinator and chess-trainer (junior & intermediate level) with GM Niaz Morshed in his Six Season, Chess Club (2012). He is a classical Flute player and a member of the family Band named Man-Machine. He performed in different programs at home and abroad and at the IAB cultural representation program.
