Md. Ferdous Rahman

Md. Ferdous Rahman is an accomplished Architect and Architectural Researcher, with professional experience spanning architectural design, heritage conservation, and climate-responsive architecture. He obtained his Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) with First Position from Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) in 2024 and is an Associate Member of the Institute of Architects, Bangladesh (IAB). Throughout his professional career, Md. Rahman has worked with reputed architectural practices including ZRS Architects, J.A. Architects Ltd. (Internship), and as a Co-Founder & Architect at Arch.Innovate & Grihalok, contributing to a diverse range of projects such as residential developments, transportation buildings, restoration of heritage structures, and community-scale public projects. His professional involvement includes notable works like residential projects in Sylhet, terminal and infrastructure projects in Dhaka, and multiple architectural restoration initiatives across Habiganj, Faridpur, and Sylhet. Alongside professional practice, he has been actively involved in architectural research and interdisciplinary projects, previously working as a Research Assistant (Architecture) at the Center for Climate Change & Environmental Research (C3ER), BRAC University, where he contributed to climate-resilient housing, master planning, and award-winning design documentation. Md. Rahman has received significant national and international recognition for his design excellence. His achievements include First Position in the ARCASIA ACGSA Design Competition (Student Category), multiple Design Awards at D-Expo (SUST) including Best Undergraduate Thesis Award and many more. His undergraduate thesis on the Adaptive Reuse of Bhawal Zamindar Palace has been widely recognized and published. His research interests focus on heritage conservation, contextual modernism, sustainable and climate-responsive architecture, vernacular traditions, and community-based design approaches. He has authored and co-authored papers published in international conferences and peer-reviewed journals, addressing topics such as urban heritage conservation, nature-based solutions, climate resilience, and post-pandemic-built environments. Driven by a belief in architecture’s capacity to shape socially and environmentally responsible futures, Md. Ferdous Rahman continues to engage in architectural practice, research, and design exploration with a strong commitment to contextual relevance, sustainability, and cultural continuity.
