Dr. Mohammad Shamim Hossain

PhD in Molecular Biotechnology, Hiroshima University, Japan; and Postdoc, Copenhagen University, Denmark

Dr. Mohammad Shamim Hossain earned his Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) and Master of Science (M.Sc.) degrees in Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering from Islamic University, Kushtia, Bangladesh, in 2011 and 2013, respectively. He was awarded the prestigious Japanese Government Monbukagakusho (MEXT) Scholarship to pursue his doctoral studies at Hiroshima University, Japan, where he received his Ph.D. in Molecular Biotechnology in 2018. In 2019, Dr. Shamim joined the Department of Food Engineering and Nutrition Science (FENS) at State University of Bangladesh (SUB) as an Assistant Professor and also served as a Course Coordinator. In 2022, he moved to Denmark as a Postdoctoral Researcher funded by Novo Nordisk at the Department of Biology, University of Copenhagen, where he worked until 2025. In 2026, Dr. Shamim rejoined the Department of Food Engineering and Nutrition Science (FENS) at State University of Bangladesh (SUB) as an Assistant Professor. Dr. Shamim has published his research in high-impact international journals and has presented his work at multiple global conferences. His research interests include molecular biotechnology, yeast genetics, chromosome biology, antimicrobial studies, food and nutrition science.
