Mohammad Hamidur Rahman Sabbir has been serving as a lecturer in the Department of Architecture at the State University of Bangladesh since January 2022. He successfully completed his Master of Science in Human Settlement (MScHS) from Khulna University in 2018, and prior to that, he earned his B.Arch from the same institution in 2015. Beyond his regular teaching responsibilities, Mr. Sabbir undertakes various vital roles such as being a member of the 'Accreditation Committee,' ‘Credit Transfer, equivalence, waiver & Special Curriculum Committee’ within the Architecture Department. Additionally, he fulfills the role of 'Sports Coordinator' at the university.
Following the completion of his graduate studies, he embarked on a career as a 'Project Architect' in the Ministry of Housing & Public Works. During this period, he played a pivotal role in the design and planning of the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn & Plastic Surgery (SHNIBPS). This initiative has since gained national priority due to its significance in addressing burn-related challenges. Mr. Sabbir concluded his (MScHS) program between 2017 and 2018, during which he engaged in collaborations on both national and international research projects. His MScHS thesis focused on exploring opportunities for creating Child-Friendly Spaces within the context of Rohingya refugees. His academic excellence garnered recognition in the form of the 'NST Fellowship' from the Ministry of Science & Technology, Bangladesh, as well as the prestigious 'Best Thesis Award' from Khulna University's Architecture Discipline. He achieved distinction status in the final results of his MScHS program.
In addition to his academic pursuits, Mr. Sabbir actively participates in professional architectural endeavors. He holds memberships with esteemed organizations such as the Institute of Architects of Bangladesh (IAB) and the Khulna Development Authority (KDA). His professional engagements encompass a range of significant projects, including the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn & Plastic Surgery (SHNIBPS) and the LEED Certified NPM Apparels Limited at Kapasia, Gazipur.
Mr. Sabbir's passionate academic interests revolve around Urban Design, Child-Friendly Spaces, Climate Change Adaptation, etc. He aspires to make valuable contributions to society through diligent research and dedicated practice.
