Md. Asgar Ali is an expert on the laws and legal system of Bangladesh. He served as a District and Sessions Judge in various districts before his retirement from the government service in 2011. At present he is working as permanent faculty member at the Department of Law of the State University of Bangladesh in the position of Professor. He is also discharging duty as Acting Controller of Examinations of the State University of Bangladesh in addition of his own duty. He is former Head of the Department of Law of the State University of Bangladesh. He did LL.B. from the Department of law of Rajshahi University before doing his LL.M. from a private university. He also has a M.Sc. degree from the Rajshahi University. He also has completed MSS from the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice of Dhaka University. He was enrolled as an Advocate by the Bangladesh Bar Council in 1978 and he took membership in the Jamalpur Bar Association in the same year and practiced in various Courts there before joining the Judiciary in 1983. Subsequently, in the year 2015, he has been permitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Bangladesh, High Court Division and he has got membership of the Bangladesh Supreme Court Bar Association bearing ID : 9185. He took many extensive trainings in all tiers of his judicial service in the Judicial Administration Training Center (JATI) of various durations organized by the Ministry of Law, Justice & Parliamentary Affairs. Besides these, Md. Asgar Ali got several trainings in the matter of Election, Land Survey & Settlement etc organized by the various Ministries of the Government. He has taken trainings in Foundation Course & Practitioners Courses on Mediation (ADR) in JATI organized by the Ministry of Law, Justice & Parliamentary Affairs. He participated in various seminars and workshops on Alternative Dispute Resolutions (ADR) and other legal matters.

- Currently serving as Acting Controller of Examinations at the State University of Bangladesh, in addition to teaching duties.
- Served as former Head of the Department of Law at the State University of Bangladesh.
- Permitted to practice law in the Supreme Court of Bangladesh (High Court Division) in 2015 and obtained membership in the Bangladesh Supreme Court Bar Association (ID: 9185).

- Completed extensive professional trainings, including multiple courses at the Judicial Administration Training Center (JATI) organized by the Ministry of Law, Justice & Parliamentary Affairs.
