Introduction
The Department of English Studies
began its journey as a full-fledged department of SUB in 2003 in response to
the ever-increasing demand of English as the most widely used language in
worldwide communication, commerce and technology. The programmes offered by the
department enable the students to excel in the study of both Language and
Literature, and impart knowledge and training in Applied Linguistics and
English Language Teaching (ELT). English skills are helpful in every area of
life today. Reading, writing, comprehension, analysis and interpretation
increase efficiency in multiple ways including communication and, reflection of
societies and personal values. Keeping these objectives in view, the Department
offers Bachelor of Arts (Honors) in English, Master of Arts in Literature and, Master
of Arts in ELT programmes with curricula that meet the requirements of learners
in the 21st century.

enlightened, and qualified English graduates who can accommodate themselves in
the fast-paced competitive world.

The Department of English

ADMISSION
PROCESS
The university operates a Trimester
system i.e., Spring (January-April), Summer (May-August) and Fall (September - December).
The students are required to fulfill the university admission requirement
according to UGC guidelines. The admission forms and relevant information can
be collected from the Admission Office. Completed applications together with
required documents should be submitted to the Admission Office as per
deadlines.
For convenience of the
graduate students, the admission office is open on Fridays and Saturdays
besides the normal university working hours.
